GLOBAL ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT MANAGER

Job Description

We are looking for an Accounting Department Manager who will report directly to the CFO, and will be the person in charge of ensuring the correct accounting management of the firm at a global level, guaranteeing the reliability of the financial information and compliance with current regulations.

The selected candidate will lead the accounting department, coordinating the accounting and reporting processes, supervising the team and collaborating closely with other financial and business areas. They will play a key role in the continuous improvement of processes and in supporting strategic decision making.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
  • Demonstrable experience of at least 10 years in accounting, with at least five years leading an accounting team or similar area.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP, especially in financial modules (FI/CO), essential for the management and optimisation of accounting processes
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, applicable tax and legal regulations. Strong knowledge of IFRS and the Spanish Chart of Accounts. 
  • Experience in international mergers
  • Analytical ability, attention to detail and clear reporting skills
  • High level of organisation, autonomy and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Advanced Excel and reporting tool skills
  • High level of English 

Functions

As the Accounting Department Manager, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Directing and supervising all of the firm’s accounting activities, including recording and following up on accounting transactions, adjustments, reconciliations and monthly/annual closing of accounts.
  • Preparing and submitting reliable and timely financial reports and accounting statements to management.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting, tax and legal regulations in force.
  • Developing, reviewing and improving accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Coordinating external and internal audits, providing the required information and supporting review processes.
  • Leading, training and motivating the accounting team, encouraging their development and alignment with the firm’s objectives.
  • Collaborating with other internal teams (finance, tax, operations and IT) to ensure an integrated view of financial management.
  • Managing and optimising accounting processes in SAP, which is a prerequisite for the position.
